Commemorative Postage Stamp will be released on Satya Sai Baba on 23/11/2013

HYDERABAD: The department of posts (India Post) will release a commemorative stamp on Sathya Sai Baba on the occasion of his 88th birth anniversary celebrations to be held atPuttaparthi of Anantapur district on November 23.

Sathya Sai Baba had died at Puttaparthi on April 24, 2011 due to ill-health. As Sathya Sai's devotees are 
spread across the world, the Sathya Sai Central Trust moved a proposal to issue a commemorative stamp on Sai Baba last year.

"The director, Philately, has decided to release the stamp and a first day cover on the occasion of Sathya Sai's birth anniversary. We have received an official communiqué from the director, Philately, regarding releasing the stamp on November 23," chief postmaster-general, AP Circle, Hyderabad, B V Sudhakar told TOI.

Union minister of state for communication & information technology (IT) Killi Krupa Rani would release the commemorative stamp and 'First Day Cover' at a function at Puttaparthi on November 23. From that day, the
India Post would sell the stamp for sale at all post offices across Andhra Pradesh. The price of the stamp would be known after its release, he said.
